Level Shifter & Power Adaptor (v3) for 5-Volt RGB LED Strip (WLED, Hyperion, Etc)
Level Shifter & Power Adaptor (v3) for 5-Volt RGB LED Strip (WLED, Hyperion, Etc)

With this product, you will receive a custom, hand-made Adaptor board, specifically designed to power your Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, 3/4/4b, or an ESP32/8266, and drive your WS2812b/SK6812 (or other) 5-Volt RGB LED strip(s) with 5-Volt logic, thanks to its inline one-way Level Shifter.
Note: Do Not use the USB port to power a Raspberry Pi 5 - it requires a separate power supply. Doing so will cause the Pi 5 to shut down unexpectedly. You can use the ports (and the included cable) to power a Splitter, Streaming Device or other USB devices in your setup.
* Note that your Capture Device has to plug into the Raspberry Pi, NOT the Level Shifter
Use with WLED, Hyperion/HyperHDR, or any 5-Volt RGB LED project with a 3.3-Volt Microcontroller or SBC.
Most LED strips can tolerate a 3.3v data signal, but can be unpredictable when used that way. The level shifter ensures a full 5v data stream to your LEDs for stable, reliable colors, and no risk of 5-Volts entering your highly-sensitive 3.3-Volt microcontroller.
New v3 Design: Includes a 5.5mm x 2.5mm 5-Volt DC Input Barrel Jack, and Dual Port Type-A USB Power Outputs. This allows you to, using the included cable, power your Raspberry Pi, ESP32 or other devices directly from the adaptor.
Connect directly to any WS2812b or SK6812 RGB/RGBW LED strip via the Male 3-pin JST-SM connector; this supplies power AND data to your LED strip.
Use the White and Green jumpers to connect to Ground and a GPIO pin on your Pi or ESP device.
Use the extra USB Power Port to supply (for example) an HDMI splitter, a Roku/Firestick/other streaming device, or whatever you may need it for.
Choose the appropriate, included USB cable -- either Type-C (Pi 4), or USB Micro B (Pi Zero 2 W or Pi 3). For ESP modules, just check which USB power cable you need. If using a Pi 5, this cable can be used for something else, so choose whichever you're likely to use.
LED Output is a standard Male 3-pin JST-SM connector. DO NOT CONNECT to any 12-Volt or other strip more than 5-Volts!
Buyer pays calculated shipping via either UPS, or USPS (USPS International if outside the US). Please limit quantities to one unit per order.
Also included in the Accessory Bundle (for Hyperion/Ambilight projects) for $6 more:
- 3x "L" Corner Couplers for your LED strip - Great for going around a Television
-
1x Crimp-on connector for the far-end of your LED strip
- 1x Hook & Loop Fastener (Self-Adhesive) 4"x2" (~100mm x ~50mm) - can be cut into pieces as needed for your project (May be two 4"x1" Strips)
The added $6 is what it costs me to purchase those L-brackets and crimp connectors. It saves you money, over having to buy each of these items in the 10-packs as they are sold...
See the Level Shifter Page on my website for more detailed usage instructions.
*** LED STRIPS, Power Supply, Raspberry Pi/ESP are NOT INCLUDED ***
Your choice of USB Cable (one foot or ~30cm long) is included; select the correct version (Type-C or Type-B "Micro") at checkout!

Justin was super helpful when I ran into some difficulties with my Raspberry Pi HyperHDR configuration. Helped me over email with super quick responses, and after some more in-depth testing he was able to get me up and running in no time! His Level Shifter is straight forward, easy to use, and super convenient with the added USB ports and accessories to make this project a breeze. Will definitely be purchasing another device for another TV in my home! Thanks Justin!
Wonderfull product no more issues!
This little device was just what the doctor ordered! I am so glad I found this from your channel before I had to troubleshoot what was wrong. It has been working solid for the past 9 months. Thinking of buying another one to use on a second TV setup.
I got this along time ago and its still going strong. Made the installation easier and cleaner. Thanks.
